The sumptuous 4-seat Buffalo Natural Hide (Code 0181) interior presents in near perfect order throughout. Panel design BMW sports seats with optional electric adjustment, driver memory and heating are in perfect order showing no signs of adverse wear, giving a firm but comfortable feel, the side bolsters give an extra feeling of security.
Unmarked special 380mm diameter three-spoke leather-rimmed M-Technic steering wheel, black leather gear shift knob, Buffalo Hide gear shift gaitor and door panels with embossed tramline detail.
The original luxury deep pile chocolate carpets are excellent throughout... A combination that lets you know you're driving something very special.
All electronic gauges and switches work as they were intended including the check control panel, M635 special instrument cluster with a 170mph speedo and a Motorsport-branded 8000rpm rev counter, optional Becker Mexico Cassette Electronic Diversity radio/cassette with Dolby B-C, on-board computer, electric front and rear windows, electric mirrors, glovebox torch, optional air-conditioning, door panels with storage pockets and rear parcel shelf storage compartments... the list goes on and on.
In the boot, you will find a complete full tool kit, spare bulbs, fuses, an unopened factory sealed first aid kit, and BMW warning triangle.
Exterior
The distinctive shark nose, long bonnet, rubber boot spoiler and an arrow-like profile distinct 3-rib front spoiler define the BMW M635...
Finished in optional factory Bahama Beige Metallic (Code 170) the paintwork has a deep gloss uniformed shine throughout. The bodywork is all original, there's no evidence of previous panel or structural damage, all panels are perfectly straight, gaps as per it left the factory, and the subtly flared wheel arch lips are unmarked. All original lights, halogen front lights with optional wash-wipe and rear lights are all in exceptional order with uniform colour and a silky polished finish.
The optional electric slide/tilt sunroof operates at the touch of a button swiftly, quietly and smoothly. The optional green-tinted heat-insulating BMW stamped glass is in perfect order... Simply wonderful
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
Wheels - Fitted with the original not refurbished TRX cross spoke forged light alloy wheels and present in exceptional order. The recent all matching Michelin TRX 240/45 VR 415 tyres all have excellent uniformed tread remaining.
Brakes - Twin-circuit brake system with hydraulic brake servo, ABS, the standard 635 CSi 282mm diameter ventilated front disc brakes were switched to larger 300mm items with new four-piston calipers for the M635. Solid 284mm discs were retained at the rear but with larger caliper pistons.
Suspension - For the M635 BMW Motorsport added shorter and stiffer springs that dropped the ride height by 10mm. Special gas-filled Bilstein dampers were installed and the front anti-roll bar was beefed up to 25mm instead of 19mm. The original 16mm diameter rear anti-roll bar was retained.
Engine & Transmission
BMW Motorsport connoisseurs will know the M88/3 engine's basic specifications, 3.5 litres, twin cam 24 valve, 6 cylinder, 286 bhp, 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds, the very same engine that once powered the legendary M1 sports car but now further refined.
Smooth five-speed manual close-ratio Getrag gearbox, limited-slip differential, driving is a dream, silky-smooth and fast-revving, complimented by engine speed-related power steering.
The engine and engine bay are fully detailed and display many of the original factory decals.

One of the most desirable cars of the 80s and a hugely expensive car at the time... Just 524 right-hand-drive examples of the E24 M635 CSi were built between September 1984 and February 1989 of which 102 were facelift variants.
A full comprehensive service was completed just 267 miles ago by German Car Specialists CPC Auto Services, Amersham, Bucks at a cost of £2041, fresh underside Lanoguard protection has just been applied.
Supplied new directly by the BMW Factory in Munich, collected by a father and son on 8th November 1985 and driven back to the UK. First service carried out by Park Lane BMW London on 14th November 1985 at a recorded 1228 miles, the car then remained in the family for the next 40 years, the V5 Registration Certificate documents just 2 former keepers.
The history file documents 27 past MOT certificates including the first dated 20th October 1988 at 9291 miles, service records, BMW Owner's Handbook, BMW Europe Service Centres Book, BMW Buffalo Hide Care Card and wallet, 2 x original BMW keys and 2 x BMW alarm keys, original BMW Purchase Order dated 26th September 1985 with build specification and options.
A true collectors grade example of BMW's flagship GT Coupe. Very rare, desirable, usable, and refined classic BMW M635 CSi. With values increasing year on year for low mileage low owner examples such as this, it's certainly one not to be missed.
As of 12th November 2025 this M635 will qualify as an Historic Vehicle - Zero road tax and MOT exempt.
