Interior & Equipment
Just as it left the factory... Immaculate and unmarked luxurious Connolly Stone Beige leather, (Code SMJ) is extensively used throughout the passenger cabin of the MG RV8 with a ruched design. The Elm Burr veneer facia panel, centre console, and door cappings are excellent, original MG Panasonic Dolby radio cassette... the interior is pure elegance.
The original VDO black-on-white gauges all work perfectly, and all interior chrome fittings are of a very high standard. The deep pile dark stone beige carpets are free from wear and are as new, the original matching MG embroidered overmats present perfectly. The original leather gear knob is in very good order... Exterior
The immediately recognisable hourglass shape of the MG RV8 is finished in optional pearlescent Woodcote Green, (Code HPE) at a cost of £750 when new.
The stunning paintwork has a uniform and deep gloss finish throughout and is unmarked, as you would expect from such a low mileage car. The original correct panels produced by Abbey Panels are flawless and the panel fit as per it left the factory.
The underside is equally impressive it appears to have never seen rain. We have fitted a brand new mohair hood, as sadly the beautiful original had been nicked when folding back.
All original external decals are in perfect order as is the brightwork and original lights. The original windscreen still supports the factory etched chassis number and the screen frame as new… A remarkable example
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
Wheels - The unmistakable and original 5-lattice cast alloy 15x6J road wheels are in exceptional condition and have never been refurbished. Fitted with all matching brand new Hankook Kinergy Eco2 205/65 R15 tyres.
Brakes - Servo assisted ventilated front disc brakes with 4-piston callipers and rear drums give the car excellent braking feel and capability.
Engine & Transmission
The 3.9 litre V8 is extremely usable with 318 Nm of torque at 3200 rpm and 190bhp giving effortless midrange power. 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 135mph this MG is no slouch.
The engine bay is spotlessly clean and factory original with all markings plates and stickers present.
The addictive V8 burble through the twin original exhaust is magical. The 5-speed manual gearbox is perfect, changing with ease and precision, the clutch is light and progressive... A joy to drive.
Summary
The MG RV8 was always destined to become a classic, with just 1983 units made.
This RV8 was re-imported back to the UK in March 2007 and remarkably only 1 MG enthusiast owner since who retained the original Auto Trader advert dated 2nd March 2007 which detailed an original 1 owner car with 7540 miles from Japan.
The comprehensive history file contains 2 original keys and remote fobs, key code tab, MG Leather bound wallet with MG Handbooks, original leather MG keyring, original service invoices, 15 past MOT certificates including the first when entering back to the UK on 24th March 2007 with a recorded 12,375 KM, every tax disc from 2008 to 2015, and a ¥1 coin which in Japan is a tradition when selling a car and a gesture of respect and goodwill.
This is an original and unmarked example that will appeal to enthusiasts and collectors alike. A truly exceptional preserved example with all original features, it cannot fail to impress. Low mileage examples such as this do not become available very often and is certainly one not to be missed.
